Parking in the Owen G. Glenn Building at Auckland University

I thought that Auckland University was a place for people wanting to learn to do just that. However I have been horrified by the exploitation put upon these students by the University Administration when it comes to parking in the Owen G. Glenn building. Firstly, the clock on the ticket machine at the entrance is ten minutes slow. That means when you enter the building at 9 am, your ticket says you have entered at 8.50 am. The front ticket clock does not display the same time as the pay machines, they operate on normal time. This is relevant because in the Owen G. Glenn carpark you must pay for parking by the hour. Now lectures start at 5 past the hour, so to be present at the start of your lecture you must have been in the parking lot for '15' minutes. This means that unless you want to be 15 minutes late to your lecture, you must pay two hours of parking to park for one hour. Is this not fraud???? I thought this institution was here to help learning, not sabotage it. To add insult to injury, staff members are issued special parking tickets which mean they can pay for parking in this building by the minute. It is only us poor students that the University really wants to exploit. Because of these problems, I decided to purchase an early bird card, which means all day parking for only 10 dollars if you enter before 10am. I arrived half an hour early for my lab and walked to the parking building to buy my earlybird card, only to be informed that you cannot buy parking cards at the parking building, you must walk to the other side of campus. What sense does this make? I walked to the other side of campus, only to find the parking ticket store shut. I then went to a further end of campus still, where I was informed that all early bird cards had sold out months ago and were not to be found in the forseeable future. So I am currently parked for 4$ an hour, on the condition I leave my class 15 minutes early in order to get past the fraudulent ticketing system. Otherwise it is 8$ an hour. Consider me disgusted.
